Marcos Ierides, a BatteReverse consortium member and senior innovation consultant at Bax & Company, will delve into the challenges and solutions in two essential areas of reverse logistics - battery assessment and dismantling - during the ZIRKULAR BAT Workshop on June 13th in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain.

Understanding a battery's remaining value is crucial, and this is where reliable testing methods come into play, influencing decisions on repair, repurposing, or recycling. However, the landscape of battery testing is varied, with different approaches adopted by reverse logistics players. Marcos will showcase key technologies needed for fast assessment, as well as explore differences between OEM data and independent tests.

Efficient and safe dismantling is another key process in battery reverse logistics. With a wide variety of battery designs and connectors, it demands expertise, precision, and time. What depth of dismantling is economically viable, and how does it impact recycling efficiency? What technologies and approaches can we employ to automate battery disassembly? During the presentation, he will explore the ins and outs of this topic.

The workshop takes place from 9:00 to 16:30, and Marcos' presentation is scheduled for 11:15 (CET).
